We are working with an insurance business building out a Data & AI function focused on delivering LLM driven underwriting systems.

The team is developing software that can extract, interpret & communicate complex insurance data in near real time, with a focus on significantly reducing processing time across underwriting workflows. These systems are being built for production use, not experimentation.

This role sits at the centre of that platform. You will be responsible not just for building backend services, but for how they are deployed, managed & scaled. Engineers in this team own infrastructure & delivery end to end, including Terraform & CI/CD, working closely with data & AI teams to bring LLM driven functionality into production.

The Role

You will join a small Python team & take ownership of how systems are built, deployed & maintained.

• Build & own Python microservices & APIs used in production
• Design & manage infrastructure using Terraform
• Own CI/CD pipelines & improve release processes
• Work across distributed, asynchronous systems
• Integrate LLM driven functionality into backend services
• Contribute to system design & raise engineering standards across the team

What They Are Looking For

• 6+ years Python backend development
• Strong experience building & owning APIs & services in production
• Proven Terraform experience (must be hands on)
• Experience owning CI/CD pipelines & deployment processes
• Solid understanding of distributed systems
• Cloud experience (Azure preferred)

Exposure to AI, LLMs or similar tooling is beneficial but not essential.
