We are working with a London Market insurer investing heavily in its cloud platform capability following a recent acquisition & wider technology evolution.

This role sits within a lean platform team responsible for a central Azure environment supporting multiple business-critical systems. The focus is on delivering, stabilising, & improving a modern cloud platform, working closely with architecture & DevOps to ensure services are secure, scalable, & built to a high standard.

This is a hands-on engineering role with real visibility across the platform. You will play a key part in how services are delivered & supported, contributing to the ongoing evolution of a cloud environment that is actively being developed & refined.

The role

You will work across the full lifecycle of the Azure platform, from building & configuring services through to supporting live environments & improving performance & resilience.

Operating in a lean team, you will collaborate closely with architecture, DevOps, & application teams, helping translate design into well-engineered, reliable solutions & contributing to how the platform continues to evolve over time.

Key responsibilities

  • Build & deliver Azure-based solutions in line with defined architectural patterns
  • Configure & support cloud platform services across IaaS, PaaS, & serverless environments
  • Troubleshoot platform issues, identifying root causes & driving long-term improvements
  • Support the migration & optimisation of services within Azure
  • Work closely with DevOps teams on infrastructure as code & deployment processes
  • Monitor platform performance, stability, & security using Azure-native tooling
  • Collaborate with development & security teams to ensure services are delivered effectively
  • Contribute to documentation, operational standards, & continuous improvement across the platform

Experience required

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure across core platform services
  • Experience delivering & supporting cloud environments in production
  • Solid understanding of Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, private endpoints, routing)
  • Experience working with infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Azure DevOps or similar)
  • Exposure to containerised environments (AKS or similar)
  • Strong troubleshooting & problem-solving capability
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
