About the Role
We are partnering with a respected London Market Insurer to recruit an Infrastructure Manager who can stabilise current operations while spearheading a path toward modernisation. This is a senior, hands-on leadership position bridging traditional infrastructure with emerging cloud-based delivery, specifically targeting strategic Azure adoption without being fully cloud-native.
What You'll Do
- Lead & support the day-to-day performance & resilience of a mixed estate: Windows Server (2012-2022), VMware ESXi, Citrix, Active Directory, Exchange, M365
- Manage network & security platforms: Cisco, Meraki SD-WAN, FortiGate, Checkpoint firewalls, VPN technologies, LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi
- Design & execute a credible roadmap for transitioning legacy systems to Azure IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, with focus on Azure AD, Intune, Conditional Access, Defender, Sentinel
- Oversee storage & backup technologies: Veeam, SAN/NAS, Disaster Recovery (DRaaS), BaaS solutions
- Own vendor partnerships, including firewall, network, & infrastructure services, ensuring they are tightly aligned to operational standards & integrated into delivery models
- Act as the go-to technical expert: provide escalation on complex issues, leveraging PowerShell, automation, monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, SCOM)
- Collaborate across IT security, applications, & business functions to safeguard decision-making with strong governance (ITIL-influenced) & compliance in an insurance context
What We're Looking For
- Significant infrastructure experience within insurance, financial services, or heavily regulated environments
- Deep technical grounding across server, storage, networking, virtualization, & Microsoft cloud services
- Exposure to Azure migration, M365 tenant management, hybrid Active Directory, Intune device management
- Strong vendor & supplier management skills; experience negotiating contracts & managing SLAs
- Excellent communicator, able to bridge business stakeholders & technical teams
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, DORA, FCA regulations)
Why This Role?
- Be the stabilising force & strategist: operate as both firefighter & forward-planner
- Influence infrastructure trajectory for the long term, not just day-to-day management
- Engage deeply with vendors & executive stakeholders, bringing clarity & structure to legacy-chaotic environments
- Thrive in a hybrid, compliance-focused environment where insurance domain knowledge will give you the edge
