Senior Azure Cloud Platform Engineer - London (Hybrid) - Contract: Inside IR35
Senior Cloud Platform Engineer urgently sought by a leading Insurance client
We are supporting a highly regarded Insurance organisation whop are urgently seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to play a key role in the design, delivery & ongoing evolution of its Azure cloud platform.
This role will require hands-on engineering & some architecture to provide technical leadership across Azure, shaping platform strategy while remaining actively involved in delivery through Infrastructure as Code, DevOps pipelines & secure cloud design.
You will work closely with other platform engineers, security & architecture stakeholders, helping to define standards, guide technical decisions, & ensure cloud solutions are scalable, resilient, & secure by design.
Please note this role will require core background in Financial Services & will be a proven Technical SME within Azure Cloud & DevOps. This is a Hybrid role & will be 3 days per week on-site in the London office. Only candidates with the core industry background & ability to be on-site 3x per week will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
*Design & produce high-level & low-level Azure solution designs aligned to business & security requirements
*Lead & support the delivery of Azure cloud solutions, from concept through to production
*Act as a technical authority for Azure, ensuring adherence to architectural standards & best practices
*Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements & translate them into deliverable technical solutions
*Engineer & maintain cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
*Build & support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps & modern DevOps practices
*Design & support highly available environments across PaaS, IaaS, serverless & container-based workloads
*Work closely with security & architecture teams to ensure platforms are secure, compliant & well-governed
*Provide guidance, mentoring & knowledge sharing to upskill engineers across the wider technology team
*Lead or contribute to cloud initiatives, providing visibility on progress, risks & dependencies
*Stay current with emerging Azure services & cloud-native technologies
Essential Skills & Experience
*Significant experience designing & delivering secure Azure cloud platforms
*Strong background in Azure platform engineering or cloud architecture
*Proven experience delivering Azure environments using Terraform & DevOps pipelines
*Deep understanding of Azure services across networking, identity, security, monitoring & governance
*Experience with hub-&-spoke networking, private connectivity, & enterprise-grade Azure estates
*Strong communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders
*Hands-on experience with cloud-native & containerised solutions
*Comfortable operating in environments requiring high availability, resilience & compliance
*Azure certifications (e.g. Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer)
*Experience working within regulated or enterprise environments
*Exposure to formal architecture frameworks or standards
*Prior experience mentoring or leading engineers in cloud transformations
