Portfolio Manager/ Future Head of Projects

Portfolio Manager required to join a growing Insurer and establish a greenfield Change Centre of Excellence to support future growth plans.

My client are looking for a highly adaptable London Markets individual that has experience across the full project space. You will immediately be responsible for managing a selection of projects as well as provide best practice guidance on the wider PMO, and in time grow the function to become a successful business unit.

Role and responsibilities include:

  • Identify and implement best practice Project Management frameworks across a range of regulatory, business and IT change initiatives
  • Continuously identify process improvements for projects and, when needed, take a hands-on approach to removing barriers and potential blockers
  • Act as a change agent to enable successful adoption of new technologies, systems and processes that improve business functions
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure 3rd parties are delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Proactively research and implement tools that will improve the future state of the PMO within the organisation
  • Over time, grow and shape the Change function to allow a higher internal resource usage rate

Key skills and experience required:

  • It is ESSENTIAL you have a London Markets insurance background for this position
  • You will have an extensive track record of delivering a range business focused projects and programmes
  • You'll be able to identify tools and methodologies to be used that are appropriate for the project in hand
  • Prior experience managing 3rd party vendors will be highly beneficial for this position
  • You will need varied experience in several functions of change, ranging from Change Manager, Project Manager, PMO and Business Analysis
  • Having some IT project exposure is beneficial but by no means essential for this position, coming from a business background is highly desirable
  • Prior experience building a change function from the ground up will be highly beneficial
  • Experience building and refining TOM's
  • Successful delivery of underwriting, claims and processing systems will be extremely beneficial for this position, especially if you have experience from the RFI stage through to implementation
